Those preparing for a Tenerife holiday could be buoyed by the news its transport system has been made even better.

Last weekend (May 30th) saw the second line of the island''s tram system officially opened, according to the Tenerife News.

Commuters can now travel from Tincer to La Cuesta in its carriages, meaning a vacation on the island can be even more stress-free.

The improvements were unveiled at a ceremony in Jose Segura Clavell park, where holidaymakers and locals were given free rides and complementary food and drink in celebration.

People who keep up-to-date with information about Tenerife will already be aware they can use wireless internet on the trams, as was reported on the News in the Sun website.

They may also have read a recent report that the Spanish government will spend €3.3 million (£2.8 million) on a new train system for the destination.

It is set to begin construction next year after a number of documents were submitted to the Coalicion Canaria in the country''s congress.ADNFCR-917-ID-19195877-ADNFCR
