News Article Carl Froch has knockout Tenerife holiday
Friday 5th Jun 2009 at 09:09
Carl Froch has recounted a recent trip to Tenerife.

The current WBC Super Middleweight boxing champion told his local newspaper the Nottingham Evening Post he headed to the destination for a training session.

In particular, he recalled getting into shape on the island for his fight against Russian bruiser Denis Inkin by listening to country music.

"When I was training [by] running up Mount Teide, it was really hard, mind-blowing stuff. To get up that mountain, with the air so thin... Johnny Cash got me up there," he told the news provider.

Froch holds an unbeaten record and recently voiced his intention to fight American Bernard Hopkins, although no date has yet been announced.

Those who are keen to gather information about Tenerife – or boxing – may already be aware the Canaries destination is a popular haunt for stars of the ring.

Amir Khan and Nigel Benn have got into shape on the island, while Ricky Hatton often heads over to top up his tan between scraps.ADNFCR-917-ID-19205502-ADNFCR
